Wisdom in Numbers is a both a division of Daniel Mak & Associates
and also at the same time, the finance ministry under the umbrella of
Holy Fire Fellowship in Brisbane. The principal of the accounting
practice is currently a student in the Holy Fire Ministry Training
School.
After finishing his B. Com degree in accounting with USQ, further
professional training with various professional accounting bodies and
years of commercial experience in both the public and private
accounting sectors, the principal felt that God put in his heart, that
he should use his skill and experience to serve the Body Of Christ ,
including churches of different denominations and Christian ministries
with unique God-given focus and gifts.
The principal understands the Biblical principle stated in Psalm
127:1a, “unless the Lord builds the house, its builders labor in vain”.
The substance of ministry is about knowing God’s heart, and your heart
and life-style of worshiping Him. The practice or form of ministry is
only a tangible expression of that worshipful heart. In a way, ministry
is all about God Himself and is not about us or what we want to achieve
at all. It is God-inspired; it should be about “His will be done on
earth”. So, the principal has decided, after gaining all the worldly
knowledge, skill and experience in the area in which he felt called to
serve, to go back to the fundamentals, i.e., to learn to know God and
listen to His heart.
Holy Fire Ministry Training School is the Bible School he felt that God
has put in his heart, he whole heartedly shares and supports the vision
and the heart of the school principal, Pastor Glen Gerhauser. Pastor
Glen sacrificially left his family in New York, gave up his comfortable
life-style and came to Brisbane with his wife Anna just to sow into the
life of a bunch of students who have their heart to serve God and
fellow men, to do good out of the Love of Christ instead of a religious
duties or motives, carrying the burden of the Good News to the
multitudes. Since he has joined the school, he has been working on
putting together what God has put in his heart under the mentorship of
Pastor Glen Gerhauser of his Bible school.
Since ministry is all about God, instruction as to how it should be
built has to be from him; He should be honored as the Alpha and Omega
of His own work, it is all about listening to His heart. It is all
about walking with Him day-by-day as a builder-servant. You listen and
then you obey and act. The scripture of Job 10:11-12, which says
“clothe me with skin and flesh and knit me together with bones and
sinews? You gave me life and showed me kindness, and in your providence
watched over my spirit” best describes the principal’s personal journey
of waiting on God and putting trust in Him alone, being washed in His
word with mind renewed, transformed daily and working in partnership
with Him in Humility.
The ministry, namely “Wisdom in Numbers”, is birthed out of the
passion of principle to strengthen Christ-centered organizations and
help them to earn the public’s trust through developing and maintaining
a good internal control system and standards of accountability that
convey God-honoring ethical corporate governance practices. The
principal believes that participants in this sector, mostly churches,
mission organizations and Christian ministries could exercise
self-discipline and become self-regulatory, so that the Government will
lack the motivation to step in to regulate it through legislation.
The principal is investing part of the financial resources of his
practice to assist churches in fulfilling their annual constitutional
audit obligation who can’t afford expensive audit fees by charging only
a reasonably low fee to cover cost by offering quality auditing
services.
